1CD NI AD G

This show probably doesn't need comments, but it has wah-wah style phasing, and was recorded too high, thus giving us distortion.

Capital Centre (Cap Centre/The Cap), Largo/Landover, Maryland
9-26-80           Living In The Fish Islands

3CD AD G to VG

CD1, tracks 1-6, are AD G. Track 7, is AD VG, and tracks 8-12, are AD VG-. CD2, tracks 1, 3 & 4, are AD VG-, and track 2, is AD VG. CD3, tracks 1-4 & 6-8, are AD VG-, and track 5, is AD VG. Track 8, on CD2, is a soundcheck from Spartanburg Memorial Coliseum, Spartanburg, South Carolina on 2-15-90. Track 4, on CD2, is a soundcheck from Pensacola Civic Center, Pensacola, Florida on 1-9-86. Tracks 6-8, on CD3, are a soundcheck from Hara Arena, Dayton, Ohio on 8-31-79.

9-26-80      Largo '80

2CD (UI) AD VG- & VG

There is a lot of left to right phasing that became difficult to listen to very quickly. CD1, starting at track 7, the sound quality changes for the better. CD1, tracks 1-6, I rate VG-. The rest are VG. CD1, track 11, has a few digital clicks. There is also a 34:29 soundcheck from Pensacola, Florida on 1-9-86.

9-26-80  First Contact

2CD AD VG

There is some distortion spots when the low end frequencies become high in decibles, however this is a very nice sounding VG show. This version of this date is by far the better choice!

      Allentown Fairgrounds, Allentown, Pennsylvania
9-30-80            Something Old, Something New

2CD SB EX-

9-30-80 Hyperspace

1CD X SB EX-

Track 3 sounds like it might be from a different show. The quality drops as well. These shows have a done live that night pre-release version of "Limelight", with Geddy having different vocal characteristics, and fluctuations. "Tom Sawyer" is another pre-release live song, and is definitely a different sounding version. Geddy ad-libed some of the words as if they hadn't been fully worked out at this point. Alex's lead is also not fully worked out, yet is a killer one. Sadly, "Hyperspace" is missing "The Spirit Of The Radio". The audience is really dead, but the band played with great enthusiasm. "Hyperspace" is definitely better in sound quality, plus the speed has been slightly corrected.
